WHO WE ARE

We are a family-friendly pub located in Whatawhata (7 mins west of Hamilton, heading towards Raglan).

​

The Whatawhata Hotel/Bridge Hotel/Whatawhata Tavern/The Backyard Bar & Eatery and now The Backyard Gastropub has been a part of the village of Whatawhata since the 1800's.

159 years on The Backyard Gastropub is still a place for people to have a drink and hang out with friends and enjoy themselves - as it always has been. But it is now so much more - live music, great food, family and community are the key ingredients.

We have a pretty amazing team here at the Backyard Gastropub, we pride ourselves on our whanau atmosphere that we have worked really hard to build! We want you to come, relax and feel at home.
